SBTi validates Dimexon’s net-zero targets

Dimexon’s near-term and net-zero science-based targets have been officially validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), marking an important milestone in our climate journey.

SBTi validation provides independent confirmation that our targets are grounded in climate science and aligned with the goals of the Paris Agreement. It strengthens the credibility of our climate commitments and provides a clear, measurable framework through which our progress can be assessed.

Our validated targets

Dimexon has committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2050.

In addition to this, our near-term targets, measured against a 2019 base year, are to:

Reduce absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 48.91% by 2030
Reduce absolute Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 46.2% by 2030

Our long-term targets, also measured against a 2019 base year, are to:

Reduce absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 95% by 2050
Reduce absolute Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 90% by 2050

Scope 1 covers emissions generated directly by our operations, while Scope 2 relates to the energy we purchase. Scope 3 encompasses indirect emissions across our wider value chain.

Ahead of our near-term targets

Dimexon has already achieved the emissions reductions required under its near-term targets, ahead of the 2030 deadline. This progress reflects sustained action across our operations, including the transition of our Coimbatore diamond manufacturing facility to 75% solar energy in 2024.

While reaching this threshold early is a significant achievement, our work continues. Maintaining these reductions, driving further progress and addressing emissions throughout our value chain will remain essential as we move towards our long-term net-zero ambition.

“This validation is an important achievement as it demonstrates that our decarbonisation targets are science-based and aligned with the latest climate science and the goals of the Paris Agreement,” says Dimexon ESG Business Partner Mohd Hasan Khan. “It also enhances the credibility of our climate commitments with customers, investors, and other stakeholders, while reinforcing our leadership in sustainability.”

For Dimexon, this milestone is both recognition of the progress already made and a foundation for the work still ahead.

WJI 2030 launches 2025/2026 Progress Report

The Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030 (WJI 2030) has published its 2025/2026 Progress Report, charting the milestones achieved through collective action across the global watch and jewellery value chain.

The report considers sustainability within an increasingly complex operating environment, shaped by geopolitical uncertainty, evolving regulation and heightened stakeholder expectations. It positions climate, nature, water stewardship and inclusiveness not as standalone considerations, but as interconnected drivers of long-term business resilience and value protection.

It also captures the progress of WJI 2030 and its members across the initiative’s three strategic pillars – Building Climate Resilience, Preserving Resources and Fostering Inclusiveness – and highlights the practical tools, research and partnerships developed to help companies translate commitments into measurable action.

A central focus is the WJI 2030 Impact Action Journey Framework, hosted on the ESG Book digital platform. Designed for organisations at different stages of their sustainability journeys, the tiered framework provides a shared structure through which companies can measure, manage and disclose their performance. WJI 2030 reports that 56 maison and partner members are now voluntarily reporting their actions and progress through the framework.

Rajiv Mehta, CEO of Dimexon and Chair of the WJI 2030 ESG Committee, contributed to the report, underlining the fundamental relationship between transparent reporting and trust: “In today’s environment, transparency is no longer optional; it is the foundation of trust. Reporting is how we demonstrate that our commitments are real, measurable, and progressing. The WJI 2030 Action Framework gives our industry a common language, ensuring that progress can be tracked, compared, and built upon year after year.

The Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030 (WJI 2030) case study is based on an interview with our Chief Growth Officer, Morgane Winterholer, and highlights the steps Dimexon is taking to better understand, measure and manage its relationship with nature.

As environmental expectations continue to evolve, businesses are increasingly being asked to look beyond carbon and consider their wider impacts and dependencies on natural systems. In the interview with WJI 2030, Morgane discusses how the WJI 2030 Nature Roadmap and Action Playbook have helped guide our approach, providing a structured framework for identifying priorities and translating them into practical action.

As she explains “While water efficiency and operational monitoring have already been part of our broader environmental management approach, the Nature Roadmap process helped us move the conversation from intention towards implementation with practical tools and frameworks that allowed us to break a complex topic into manageable and actionable steps.”

Among the milestones highlighted are our first TNFD-aligned assessment in 2025, which enabled us to identify and prioritise nature-related Dependencies, Impacts, Risks and Opportunities (DIROs) across our value chain. The interview also explores our approach to water stewardship, including the operation of our Coimbatore manufacturing facility as a Zero Liquid Discharge site, where 11,379 kilolitres of water were recycled and reused during 2025.

That is why we joined the Aura Blockchain Consortium in 2024.

Founded by leading luxury groups including LVMH, Prada Group, Richemont and OTB, Aura was established to help create a common digital infrastructure for the luxury industry. Its mission is to enable secure, reliable and interoperable product information that can be shared across the value chain, supporting greater transparency while preserving the exclusivity and integrity that define luxury.

At the heart of this vision is the digital product passport. The Aura passport creates a secure and accessible record that can accompany a product throughout its lifecycle. From raw materials and manufacturing processes to ownership history and after-sales services, it provides a trusted source of information that helps connect every stage of a product’s journey.

For luxury brands, this represents an opportunity to strengthen relationships with clients by providing greater visibility into the story behind each creation. For consumers, it offers reassurance that the information they receive is authentic, verifiable and securely maintained.

As we celebrate our 60^th anniversary, our new brand identity reflects who we are today – a progressive diamond manufacturer shaped by light, precision and responsible practices.

Light defines a diamond.

It reveals its beauty, precision and character. Light is also what defines our principles: a steadfast commitment to clarity, transparency and purpose at every stage of the diamond value chain.

As we mark our 60th anniversary in 2026, we are introducing a new brand that expresses these principles. At its core is light.

This concept is expressed through a refreshed visual language. Our redesigned logo incorporates subtle slashes, evoking beams of light as they pass through a diamond, while a distinctive light-beam motif flows through the wider brand identity.

A colour palette inspired by the tones of sunlight introduces warmth and vitality, reinforcing the connection between light, beauty and responsible practices.

For Dimexon, sustainability is not a peripheral consideration but a core strategic imperative. As part of strengthening our responsible business practices and aligning with emerging global standards, we undertook our first Double Materiality Assessment (DMA) to identify the ESG topics that are most relevant to our operations, value chain and stakeholders.

DMA is grounded in the principles outlined by the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). Double materiality is a concept that allows organisations to look material topics through two distinct but interconnected lenses. On one hand, impact materiality considers how our operations, products and value chain affect the environment and society. On the other, financial materiality evaluates how sustainability-related risks and opportunities could influence the financial health and resilience of our business.

Conducting a DMA enabled us to sharpen our sustainability focus and meet growing expectations for transparency and responsible conduct. This assessment is a dynamic framework that continuously informs our strategic direction and operational choices. It enables us to anticipate and respond to evolving ESG risks, while identifying opportunities that align with our values and long-term ambitions.

Our Double Materiality Assessment Process

The DMA process reflects a commitment to structured, impact-informed decision-making, stakeholder inclusivity, and alignment with leading global standards. This approach allows us to understand not only how sustainability issues impact our business, but also how our operations effect society and the environment. To carry out the assessment, we followed a multi-step, evidence-based methodology that combined internal analysis with external stakeholder engagement.

Step 1: Identifying material topics

We began the assessment by establishing a comprehensive universe of sustainability topics. This involved reviewing Dimexon’s existing focus areas alongside the topic lists prescribed under ESRS, key standards and ratings, including SASB, MSCI, Sustainalytics and DJSI.

We benchmarked material issues disclosed by key peers, customers and suppliers to ensure we include the complete value chain in alignment with market expectations. Additionally, we conducted secondary research to capture emerging industry trends and ESG priorities shaping the sector.

This exercise resulted in a refined list of material topics that are most relevant to our organisation, both in terms of their contribution to internal long-term value creation and external environmental and societal impacts.

Step 2: Mapping impacts, risks, and opportunities

We then systematically assessed how each sustainability topic aligns with Dimexon’s operations and value chain, identifying areas where our operations or value chain are responsible for significant positive and negative impacts on people and the environment. At the same time, we considered how these topics could give rise to financial risks or opportunities, depending on our exposure and preparedness. Sector trends, regulatory developments and internal risk frameworks informed this mapping.

Step 3: Stakeholder identification and engagement

Once this was complete, we identified and mapped key stakeholder groups whose perspectives are critical to understanding Dimexon’s impacts, risks and opportunities. These included both internal (senior management, functional heads, employees, workers) and external stakeholders (suppliers, customers, industry bodies).

Each engagement was tailored to ensure relevance and depth. We used a mix of surveys, interviews, and one-on-one consultations, selecting the format best suited to each stakeholder group. Rather than a broad-brush approach, each stakeholder was consulted only on topics aligned with their specific role, expertise, or connection to Dimexon, ensuring that the input we gathered was meaningful and actionable.

Each group brought unique insights into our value chain and sustainability priorities. Their inputs helped shape a more grounded and relevant assessment process, ensuring the topics we prioritised reflect both regulatory expectations and industry requirements, along with on-the-ground realities and sector-specific needs.

Step 4: Assessing materiality and setting the threshold

At this stage, we determined which topics qualify as material by applying a defined threshold. This involved evaluating the significance of each topic based on its relevance to Dimexon’s business context, and its broader environmental and social footprint. We established thresholds to prioritise topics that reflect substantial impacts or present notable risks or opportunities. This helped us focus our strategy and disclosures on the issues that matter most.

Step 5: Developing the Double Materiality Matrix

Using the outcomes from our impact and financial assessments, we mapped each topic onto a Double Materiality Matrix. This visual representation highlights where environmental and social impacts intersect with risks and opportunities for Dimexon’s business.

Topics positioned in the upper right quadrant with significant impact and financial relevance were prioritised. This matrix serves as a strategic tool, guiding our sustainability focus, and ensuring our efforts are aligned with both stakeholder expectations and long-term business value.

As a second-generation family business, we understand that legacy is not always guaranteed. Rather, it is something that must be protected and carefully stewarded into the future. This principle is central to our work in natural diamonds, and reflected in the new Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) campaign, We Protect A Legacy.

With more than 578 years of diamond heritage, Antwerp has long been a centre of excellence in our industry. The We Protect A Legacy campaign draws on this history, reaffirming what makes natural diamonds so special, and we are proud to share that Olivier Azran, vice-president of sales, Dimexon Antwerp, has been invited to be a voice in this important initiative. “I am part of the diamond legacy, and it is my honour to protect it,” says Olivier.

In lending his voice to the campaign, Olivier joins other leading industry figures in reinforcing the qualities that set natural diamonds apart – their rarity, provenance, enduring value, and the responsibility embedded in their journey from source to final creation.

We are proud to share that we have launched our 2025 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report, Brilliance Meets Integrity.

The report documents Dimexon’s ESG achievements in CY2024, and sets new sustainability, ethics and provenance goals for the coming years. This is the fourth ESG report we have published since committing to annual reporting in 2022.

Dimexon was also featured in the WJI 2030 Nature Roadmap – a strategic guide outlining the key steps that companies must take to address the global nature and biodiversity crisis. These collective efforts underscore our belief that collaboration is key to lasting change.

Strategic integration of nature and climate
At Dimexon, tackling climate change and protecting natural ecosystems remain core pillars of our sustainability strategy. In 2024, we continued to strengthen environmental performance across our operations and supply chain, taking meaningful steps towards a more resilient and responsible future.

As part of our commitment to the Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030, we completed our first biodiversity materiality assessment, evaluating Dimexon’s nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks, and opportunities across our upstream operations, and developed a comprehensive Nature Strategy and Roadmap. This marks a significant milestone in our journey to integrate nature-related considerations into our business strategy.

In parallel, we made strong progress on our decarbonisation journey. Our diamond manufacturing facility in Coimbatore now runs on 75% solar energy. The site also achieved a Zero Waste to Landfill certification, successfully diverting a significant amount of waste from landfills in its first year of reporting. By committing to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and participating in the UN-backed Race to Zero campaign, we have formalised our ambition to reach carbon neutrality by 2030, with a near-term target to reduce emissions by 25% (based on 2019 levels) by 2025.

These actions underscore our commitment to environmental stewardship, not just as a responsibility but as an opportunity to lead by example and help build a more sustainable and nature-positive future for all.

As part of our commitment to the WJI 2030, Dimexon completed its first biodiversity materiality assessment in 2024.
